The Township Committee of Springfield meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month. It consists of five committemen for three-year terms. Each year, on January 1, the committee meets to elect one of the members to be the mayor for a year term. The mayor is considered to be the head of the municipal government and is responsible as Chairman of the Township Committee with voice and vote.Clara T.
